BESPOKE ORDERS

If you are considering a bespoke order, please get in touch with us so that we can send you a visual of your order showing the combination of the design/pattern and colours you have chosen, before you place your order.

PLACING YOUR ORDER

By placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of sale. Once you have decided which runner you would like, you will need to give the following information to info@sophiecooney.co.uk or via phone so that we can place your order: Name, email, address for delivery, telephone number, design and colour of runner and the measurements (see below). We will then contact you to confirm the order and to take payment. Please note that we may need to share some of this information with our couriers to ensure the successful delivery of your order.

PAYMENT TERMS

Your order will not be processed until payment is received. Full payment is required for all orders from the core collection unless the order is over £3,000 or is a bespoke order, in which case a 50% deposit will be required. The balance of these orders will be taken before the order is delivered to you. Once we have processed your order, we will provide you with an order confirmation via email.

MEASURING YOUR STAIRS

You should be able to provide measurements yourselves based on the guide below. Otherwise, please send us a picture of your stairs (to info@sophiecooney.co.uk) and we can advise from there.

  1. Measure the tread (the flat area you stand on) and the rise (the height) of one step. Add these two measurements together to work out the total length of one step.

  2. Count how many steps you have, including the very top, or landing, stair.

  3. Multiply the length of each step with the number of stairs of the same size to get the total length required. If you have any stairs that differ in size, take these measurements and include them in the total length. (For example, with a tread of 12 cm and a vertical of 12 cm, each step has a total length measurement of 24 cm. If your staircase has 10 steps, the total length required will be 240 cm.)

  4. Add a minimum of 10 cm to your total length, allowing for any waste. If your step has a nose – or an overhang – this needs to be included in your measurements.

  5. Provide the diameter of one step (assuming your steps are the same width) by measuring from rail to wall.

Please do feel free to contact us if you have any problems with your stair measurements. We can always help.

CANCELLATION

You have 7 days from placing your order to cancel it, after that it will be with our expert weavers in India or Turkey who will be busy preparing it. If you decide to cancel your order after this period and before the runner is delivered to you, please get in touch with us to discuss.

COLOUR VARIATION

As all our runners are hand-made and hand-dyed, there will always be some natural variation in the colour. This is part of the charm of our hand-woven runners. If a slight colour variation is not an option for your project then we recommend using a machine made product such as Roger Oates.

COTTON OR WOOL

Both our cotton and wool runners wear well, however they are different fabrics and will change with time. Our wool stair runners are incredibly durable and will last a lifetime. Cotton is a less durable fabric; it fades gradually lending a more lived-in look (like a pair of well-worn, well-loved denim jeans!). The fade will begin to show on the nose of each tread after around five years. We do not recommend cotton runners on stairs that have a lot of direct sunlight on them. Cotton is 100% moth resilient and easy to wash and care for.

RETURNS & REFUNDS

If you are not entirely happy with your runner once it has been delivered to you, you will have the following options: If the runner is from our core collection, you will be entitled to a full refund (minus any delivery charges) once you send it back to us. If the runner is a bespoke order, we cannot guarantee a refund. Please phone us to discuss. Our ability to offer a partial refund (of up to 75%) will depend on the measurements and colour of your order. Please make sure they are packaged securely and sufficiently so as not to be damaged in transit. We cannot refund runners that are returned damaged and recommend using tracked and signed for post or couriers.

If you wish to return an item, kindly email us at info@sophiecooney.com to obtain return information. Items must be returned in the same condition as sold, without any damage, alterations, or signs of use. We reserve the right to deduct a cleaning or restoration fee based on the condition of the returned item.

If your order arrives damaged, please inspect it in the presence of the delivery service personnel or notify them when signing for the item. If possible, take a photograph of the damaged package and contact us immediately while retaining all packaging materials.

WARRANTY POLICY

We offer a two-year warranty on our products, covering manufacturing defects and workmanship. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by improper use or maintenance, or damage resulting from accidents or natural disasters. To make a warranty claim, customers need to provide proof of the issues and may be required to return the product for inspection. Sophie Cooney Limited reserves the right to repair, replace, or refund the product at their discretion. The warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Customers are required to inspect the rug upon delivery and report any issues within 14 days.

INSTALLATION

The installation of your runner is very important. Poor installation may cause rucking and other problems. You can arrange the installation with your own supplier and we can advise them on fitting or we can put you in touch with one of our skilled fitting partners. The terms and conditions of any installation will depend on the individual supplier and we are not party to any such contract.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

It is your responsibility to observe and comply with all applicable regulations and legislation affecting your purchase and use of our runners. This includes, where relevant, paying custom, import or export duties or acquiring other permits to purchase our goods. We will not be liable for any damage to our runners that arises from fair wear and tear, wilful damage, accident or negligence by you or any third party. If a court does decide we are liable to pay compensation to you then that amount will not exceed the total value of your order.

FORCE MAJEURE

We cannot be held liable for events beyond our control that affect our ability to meet these terms. We will make all reasonable efforts to meet our lead and delivery times but may have to extend these in unusual circumstances. We will keep you fully updated on any such delay to your order.

JURISDICTION

The contract between us and these terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
